Ottoline
Ottoline is a London-based Dutch design house founded by Ottoline de Vries. Known for her playful use of colour and composition, her unique and contemporary patterns are inspired by her love of nature, as well as her appreciation of historic styles, cultures and art forms. It was whilst a lawyer in Amsterdam that Ottoline developed a passion for design, restoring antiques and decorating them with paint and wallpaper in her spare time. When she couldn’t find the patterns she was looking for, she started creating her own. Initially bringing joy to the homes of friends and family, as demand grew for her carefully crafted pieces, so did her dream of a creative and colourful future. Being shortlisted in the first ever Rijksstudio Award of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and being featured in Dutch magazine Residence were the push she needed to establish her own business and pursue her dream. Having moved from her native Amsterdam to the hub of design that is London, Ottoline launched her first wallpaper collection - Ballet Russes - in Spring 2015. This collection, praised for its originality and storytelling, won her the 'Best Wallpaper Collection' at the Homes & Gardens Fabric Award 2015. Ever since, her studio has been recognised as a fresh voice in the traditional world of home decor. Ottoline regularly features in interiors magazines such as House & Garden, The World of Interiors, AD and Homes & Gardens. She has collaborated with various interior designers, artisans and brands for who she has opened up her ever growing treasure box of patterns, wallpaper and fabrics.
